1701 A RARE PAIR of WILLIAM III BRITANNIA SILVER DOG NOSE TABLESPOONS

A rare pair of antique William III solid Britannia standard silver Dog Nose tablespoons.

 

Hallmarked for London 1701

Made by Isaac Davenport

 

A lovely pair of spoons made from a good thick gauge of silver

 

Size - They measure approx. 20.3 cm long and have a combined weight of 140 grams

 

Condition - The spoons are in good condition, the hallmarks are worn in places but The Britannia Mark, Makers Mark and Date Mark are readable. (please see the images).

 

“Primitive” P over RA engraved on the underside.

 

Left unpolished. Overall the Patina is excellent.

 

(Roman capitals D A in an indented rectangular punch. Goldsmith working in London. Apprenticed 11th January 1689, Freedom. 15th January 1696. The third mark was entered as smallworker 2nd February 1705. Still active in 1731, date of death unrecorded)
