Vintage Set Of Old English Pattern Georgian Solid Silver Tablespoons From the Private Estate of Samuel Taylor Coleridge These spoons are from the sale of Rosemary E. Coleridge Middleton collection of Samuel Taylor Coleridge and family memorabilia. Rosemary E. Coleridge Middleton is the great, great, great-granddaughter of the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Coleridge wrote the poems The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Kubla Khan, as well as the major prose work Biographia Literaria.
Samuel Taylor Coleridge was born in 1772 and died in 1834.
They are all in the Old England pattern, hallmarks are as follows:
2 are hallmarked Stephen Adams I, Lion Passant, London city lion head, 1798 'C' date letter and George III head, they measure approximately 21.8cm long
2 are hallmarked Thomas Streetin (it is difficult to read but looks like this makers hallmark), Lion Passant, London city lion head, 1802 'G' date letter and George III head, they measure approximately 22.5cm long
1 is hallmarked Thomas Wallis II, faint Lion Passant, 1802 'G' date letter and George III head, it measures approx 22.2cm long
1 is hallmarked Peter, Ann & William Bateman, Lion Passant, London city mark, 'F' 1801 date letter and George III head, it measures approx 22cm long
The combined weight of the spoons is 315 grammes, averaging out to approx 52.5 grammes each.They are in excellent used condition.
