Vintage Set Of Six 1831 Old English Pattern William IV Solid Silver William Chawner Tablespoons

From the Private Estate of Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Samuel Taylor Coleridge wrote the poems The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Kubla Khan, as well as the major prose work Biographia Literaria.

 

They are a matching set made by William Chawner and are in excellent condition with minimal age-related wear that does not detract from its overall presentation or use. 

They are all hallmarked William Chawner, Lion Passant, London lion mark, Q 1831 date mark and William IV mark

They measure approximately 22cm long

The combined weight of the spoons is 397 grammes,

 

Samuel Taylor Coleridge was born in 1772 and died in 1834, these spoons were made in 1831. So were most likely used by him and his family.
These spoons are from the sale of Rosemary E. Coleridge Middleton collection of Samuel Taylor Coleridge and family memorabilia. Rosemary E. Coleridge Middleton is the great, great, great-granddaughter of the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
